Mailboxes For Rent
We have four mailbox options:
Inside Mail Boxes you may access during our business hours, M-F 10:00 AM until 6:00 PM, and Sat 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM:
Small box, 4 inches by 5 inches by 15 inches deep, inside the store:
12-month rental is $192
6 month rental is $108
3-month rental is $60
$5.00 key deposit.
Medium box, 8 inches by 5 inches by 15 inches deep, inside the store:
12-month rental is $216
6 month rental is $120
3-month rental is $66
$5.00 key deposit.
Large box, 12 inches by 5 inches by 15 inches deep, inside the store:
12-month rental is $240
6 month rental is $132
3-month rental is $72
$5.00 key deposit.
For the above 3 options, first-time customers for a 12-month rental get an additional 3 months for free, so you get 15 months for the price of 12. This DOES NOT apply to renewals.
Outside 24-hour Access mail boxes:
Outside medium box, 8 inches by 5 inches by 15 inches deep, with 24-hour access:
12-month contract only, no extra months, $240.
$5.00 key deposit
These outside mailboxes also include separate customer package lockers for your package deliveries. When we receive your package, we place it in a locker. Then we leave a note in your mailbox telling you which locker contains your package.
The Rental Process
Offix Edge is defined by the US Postal Service as a “Commercial Mail Receiving Agency.” That means that we as a private business are allowed to receive mail on your behalf. In order to rent you a mail box we have to fill out a US Postal Service form 1583, “Application for Delivery of Mail Through Agent.” This form is not so much an application as it is a notification to the Post Office that you will be receiving your mail here. As part of this process, you must provide two forms of ID, one a photo ID. These requirements are US-government requirements due to anti-terrorism, money-laundering, and fraud concerns. The completed form is FAXed to the San Francisco USPS Postmaster, you get a copy, and we keep a copy in our files. Your information will be kept locked up and confidential. It is not shared with anyone nor is it used for any other purposes. We also have a separate form that is the actual mail box rental contract between you and us, and you get a copy of that completed form as well. If you cannot come into our store to present yourself and your ID personally, we can send you the forms and you can take them to a Notary Public who can verify your ID, physical address and signature for us.
Mail Box Payment and Use
The mailbox contract is paid for in its entirety at the beginning. We do not do month-to-month rentals because it is too much administration for a simple mailbox.
When you receive mail in your box, we notify you via text message or via e-mail. Your choice. The operating principle is that if you do NOT hear from us, then there is no mail in your box and you do not need to waste a trip here to check.
Part of the mail service is that you may have your packages sent here as well, such as orders from Amazon or other retailers. This is a free part of the mail box service. We keep the packages on a customer package shelf and notify you via e-mail that you have received a package. You can come in and pick it up at your convenience, and there are no storage fees.
We reserve the right to refuse packages that are too large for us to conveniently move around and hold for pickup. This is OUR judgement call, not yours. Packages up to the size of a microwave oven are fine. Anything larger runs the risk of us refusing it and sending it back. We are not a warehouse. So don’t have your new king-sized bed or your new refrigerator delivered here because it won’t even make it off the delivery truck. We also will not accept a delivery of a large number of small boxes for your business. This package service is intended to be for normal consumer online shopping such Amazon.com or some other retailer. This service is NOT for delivery of your complete inventory for your home-based business. Abuses of that sort will result in early termination of your mailbox.
