Old Books

I love books (and maybe even should have been a librarian or bookstore owner). I also understand that sometimes we have too many, so I collated a list of ways to donate, recycle or sell them.

Donate -

Children’s Book Project

https://www.childrensbookproject.org/

Donate gently used books for emergent bilingual children, especially in Spanish or Chinese (all ages), characters of color (all ages), board books, beginning readers, early chapter books, graphic novels

Kids Need to Read

https://www.kidsneedtoread.org/our_mission.html

Books for Africa

https://www.booksforafrica.org/donate/donate-books.html

Books for Africa collects, sorts, ships, and distributes gently used books to students of all ages in Africa with the goal of ending the book famine in Africa. Offix Edge will donate boxes when you ship up to 50 pounds of books via Media Mail from this location.

Recycle -

Paperback books and magazines can be recycled like newspapers and cardboard.

Hardcover book glue makes recycling difficult. They can be taken to Paper Rush, a recycling center in Bayview:

M-F 6:00 am - 4:30 pm

Sell -

Green Apple Books

https://www.greenapplebooks.com/sell-us-your-books - Sell literature, poetry, philosophy, natural history/field guides, art monographs, cooking, plus current & classic titles on social justice and race studies.
